Pete Rose, wife divorcing after 27 years (AP)

Court records show banned baseball star Pete Rose has filed for divorce from his wife of nearly 27 years. The 69-year-old Rose cited irreconcilable differences for the split, but his petition did not offer any additional details. A phone message left for his attorney, Joseph Mannis, was not immediately returned....
 

Cubs' Silva accepts blame for scuffle (AP)

Cubs pitcher Carlos Silva says he accepts the blame for his dugout confrontation with third baseman Aramis Ramirez. Silva told reporters at the Cubs' spring facility that he apologized to Ramirez after their scuffle and they would "talk later," but that conversation apparently had not happened yet....
 

Cubs' Garza OK after being hit by liner (AP)

Cubs right-hander Matt Garza said he was fine after getting hit by a line drive off the bat of Jeff Francoeur in Chicago's 5-4 loss to Kansas City on Friday. The liner struck Garza in the second inning, but he remained in the game to retire the next two Royals. He was lifted for a pinch hitter as a precaution.

Jake Peavy pitched two scoreless innings for the Chicago White Sox on Friday against the Angels in his first outing since ripping his right shoulder last July. The 2007 NL Cy Young winner struck out two and walked one in the Angels' 3-1 win. Peavy reached 92 mph with a fastball that Los Angeles star Torii Hunter grounded into a double play....
 

Rangers give GM Daniels 4-year extension (AP)

Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels has received a four-year contract extension through the 2015 season. Daniels joined the Rangers organization as a baseball operations assistant in 2002. When he became general manager in October 2005, he was only 28 years old and the youngest GM in the history of major league baseball....

Chicago Cubs pitcher Matt Garza was hit in the lower back by a line drive Friday and stayed in the game for two more batters before leaving. Garza was struck by Jeff Francoeur's liner with one out in the second inning against Kansas City. After manager Mike Quade and a trainer came out to check on him, Garza retired the next two batters....
